EDDIE HEARN EXPECTS DILLIAN WHYTE TO FIGHT AGAIN THIS YEAR , GIVES LATEST ON UKAD SITUATION

Eddie Hearn has declared that he expects Dillian Whyte to fight again this year, despite currently being embroiled in an anti-doping situation.

The ‘Body Snatcher’ beat Oscar Rivas on points on July 20, though it was subsequently revealed a UKAD test returned three days earlier stated that his system contained an adverse finding.

Whyte beat Rivas by unanimous decision

Asked if he had an update on the case, Hearn told iFL TV: “Only that Dillian Whyte is handling his UKAD situation.

“It’s a private and confidential matter for him where all will be revealed, I’m sure.

“I know that him and his lawyers are working around the clock because the sooner it’s resolved, the better.”

The promoter also stated that there is no indication on a timescale as to when the situation will be cleared up.

He continued: “No idea, no idea.

“Other than they want it resolved ASAP, because people are asking.

“You’re not gonna stop asking me until its resolved, I can’t give you the answers.

“He will want it resolved as soon as possible. At the soonest possible moment, that will be resolved”

Whyte has been provisionally suspended as the WBC ‘interim’ champion and mandatory challenger

In the immediate aftermath of Whyte’s win over Rivas, he had just become WBC ‘interim’ champion and mandatory challenger to heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

It was known that he would plan to have one more fight later this year before getting his long-awaited title shot in early/mid 2020.

When asked if he still believes the 31-year-old will return to the ring in 2019, Hearn simply replied: “Yes, yes.”
