RANGERS MAKE CELTIC TRANSFER DECISION AS ALFREDO MORELOS PRICE TAG SET

Rangers would be willing to do business this week for Alfredo Morellos at £18million.

Rangers value Alfredo Morelos at the same price Celtic sold Moussa Dembele to Lyon for, claims Sky Sports reporter Charles Paterson.

Celtic sold Dembele in the summer of 2018 for a fee of around £18million.

Paterson says there have been no offers as of yet for Morelos but says a similar bid would likely be accepted by Rangers.

“Well he’s scoring and he’s still the darling of the Rangers support, that is the most important thing as far as the fans are concerned,” Paterson said of Morelos.

But I think it’s important to stress there has been speculation surrounding Morellos for probably 18 months now and in that time Rangers have not had a firm bid for the Colombian, they’ve not had a concrete offer on the table.

“Rangers are understood to value him as highly as Celtic valued Moussa Dembele.

“Remember that Celtic sold Dembele to Lyon a year ago for £18m.

“Now, if there was ever an offer that came in of that valuation for Morelos, you’ve have to think Rangers would be prepared to do business.

Moussa Dembele left Celtic for Lyon in 2018 for £18m.
“But it is as it stands that there has not been an offer.”

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard wants to keep Morelos but Paterson says it may be out of his control.

“Steven Gerrard at the start of the summer said it was vitally important that if Morelos was to leave that he would not be left hanging without the time to get a replacement,” Paterson continued.

Alfredo Morelos is linked with a move away from Rangers.
“I think that is probably in the back of Steven Gerrard’s mind, the biggest fear for him, that he does get left and a club potentially does come in with a late bid.
“He might not have a decision to make, it might be taken out of his hands by the board.
“It will be very interesting to see what transpires this week, there have been rumblings that perhaps clubs in Europe are looking to potentially make a bid this week . ”
